When Yaridovich tries to escape with the Star Piece, Jonathan appears with some of his crew to block his exit as he attempts to jump into the water, forcing him to battle Mario and his party. After Yaridovich is defeated, a note left by Johnny can be seen on a tree, explaining that he was unable to watch because his gills would not allow him to stay outside the water any longer, but that he is sure that Mario was able to easily defeat Yaridovich. The note also states that his crew saw a flying ax in the sky, which he is certain is related to the Smithy Gang.ĭuring the ending sequence, Jonathan Jones appears on the cliff where the Yaridovich battle takes place, gazing out onto the sunset.
